Sebastian Siebelmann studied medicine at the University of Lübeck from 2006 to 2013. He spent his time as an assistant doctor from 2013 to 2019 at the Center for Ophthalmology at the University Clinic in Cologne, where he then worked as a specialist in ophthalmology in 2019 and also started as a refractive surgeon at CARE Vision. Since 2019 he has also been a private lecturer (PD, Priv.-Doz.) In the field of ophthalmology at the Cologne University Hospital. In addition, he is also “Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology” (FEBO). PD Siebelmann also studied health economics at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and completed this course with a Master of Health Business Administration. In 2019 he was honored with the title “Young Physician Leader” at the World Health Summit.

Ophthalmologist Sebastian Siebelmann is constantly undergoing further training. He completed research stays in various countries, such as England, Finland and the Ukraine. He is also the inventor of three patents for transplant devices at the "Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty" (DMEK), head of the DOG keratoprosthesis registry since 2019, and head of the working group "Digital Strategies in Ophthalmology" since 2020. In addition, he founded the platform PD Siebelmann published in highly recognized national and international journals, including JCRS, Cornea, J Eucornea, Ophthalmology, BJO, JAMA, AJO etc. on the subject of corneal and refractive surgery. In addition, he was honored with other national and international prizes, including from the ARVO, the ESCRS, the DOG, the BVA and the BSI. PD Siebelmann also works as a reviewer for a large number of international journals, including Cornea, PLoS One, BJO, Transplantation and Scientific Reports.
