Career
Abdullah Salim began his medical studies at the University of Baghdad in 2005 and graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B.Ch.B.) in 2011. Then he gained extensive experience in various medical disciplines during his rotation year and worked in several hospitals in Baghdad, including surgery, emergency medicine and internal medicine.
In 2013, he obtained his German license to practice medicine and began specializing in ophthalmology in 2014. From 2014 to 2020, he completed his specialist training at the Center for Ophthalmology at the Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy in Trier, where he initially worked as a junior doctor. In addition to his specialist training, Salim interned at renowned institutions such as the University Hospital in Frankfurt am Main and the Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy in Trier in the Department of Ophthalmology in 2013. Since 2020, he has been working at the Petrisberg Eye Clinic in Trier as a specialist in ophthalmology, including as an intraocular surgeon.
In May 2020, Dr. Salim obtained the specialist title for ophthalmology. Two years later, in September 2022, he was appointed Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO), which underlines his high professional standard in ophthalmology.
