Research & Development

As a medical discipline, ophthalmology is constantly developing. Our company own department for research & development allows us to continuously improves the best methods.

The first step is to analyze ophthalmic innovations in order to integrate the safe and effective proven techniques in our treatments and so to establish standardized protocols in all of our eye laser centers. We make sure that all patients are treated (regardless of the treatment site and attending physician) on the same basis and with consistent quality.

We have set up a central medical committee to assist our entire team of ophthalmologist regarding issues that are related to the treatment.

In this manner, it is always ensured that the best method is achieved with the best possible results – even with high refractive error. In addition, our eye doctors are continually involved in attending studies, conferences and research.  These researches are then frequently published as a reference to the entire medical profession.

Close cooperation with UKE Hamburg

We have established a central medical committee that supports all our ophthalmologists in real time regarding questions about the treatment method.

This ensures that the best possible treatment method is always achieved with the best possible result – even in the case of high refractive errors. In addition, our ophthalmologists regularly participate in studies, conferences and research papers. Often these are later published as a reference for the entire medical profession.

CARE Vision and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf have been cooperation partners for several years. Thanks to this existing cooperation, the best practices are constantly being optimized. In addition, joint research projects in the field of ophthalmology are promoted and medical training is promoted. The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf is a leading research institution in the field of ophthalmology in Europe.

The UKE Eye Clinic acts as a “tertiary referral center for excimer laser surgery” from all over Germany and is a center of excellence for keratoconus early detection and treatment. Prof. Spitzer and the private lecturers Toam Katz M.D., Dr. Stephan Linke and Dr. Johannes Steinberg are well-known names in their field.

The CARE Vision European Medical Advisory Board oversees the medical processes of our organization. This way, the quality of our services is subject to constant internal control. For us, this is the guarantee that we can provide optimum quality of care.

Private lecturer Toam Katz M.D., Medical Director of CARE Vision and Senior Physician at the UKE, and Prof. Spitzer, Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, jointly promote various research projects. The results of this work are published regularly.

The CARE Vision Laser Eye Center Hamburg is in the building of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. Due to this cooperation, CARE Vision is the only eye clinic in the field of refractive surgery that is also academically active.
