Career

Prof. Dr. med. Kai Januschowski studied Human Medicine at Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen from 2002 to 2007. He subsequently worked as a resident physician at the University Eye Hospital Tübingen from 2007 to 2014. From 2008 onwards, he held senior positions there, including Executive Senior Physician and Deputy Head of the Department. In these roles, he was responsible, among other things, for the Klaus Heimann Eye Research Institute, the Uveitis Section, and scientific research groups in the field of retinal research. In 2017, Dr. Januschowski was appointed Professor of Ophthalmology at Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. In addition, he completed a Master of Health Business Administration (MHBA) at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in 2021. Since 2021, Dr. Januschowski has been a shareholder of Augenklinik Petrisberg Trier. From 2021 until February 2025, Prof. Dr. Kai Januschowski also served as Medical Director of Augenklinik Petrisberg Trier. In 2025, he additionally took on the position of Chief Physician at Brüderkrankenhaus Trier.
