What does LASIK mean?

LASIK is the most commonly used eye laser method worldwide. The abbreviation stands for laser in situ keratomileusis. With extensive long-term experience and excellent treatment results, LASIK is the most popular correction procedure for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

A LASIK treatment only takes about 10 minutes per eye (the use of the laser only takes a few seconds) and is carried out on an outpatient basis at one of the CARE Vision locations. Shortly after the LASIK treatment, most of our patients can see well and can go about their usual everyday life again after a day or two – of course without glasses and contact lenses.

The treatment – This is how the LASIK surgery works

Anesthesia

First, the eyes are prepared for the LASIK operation with numbing drops. Most patients only feel a slight pressure during the treatment.

Preparation

The ophthalmologist prepares a small lamella in the top layer of the cornea. This so-called flap is folded to the side and the actual laser treatment can begin.

Laser treatment

Now the Excimer laser starts the customized correction of the ametropia by modeling the cornea. This happens in a few seconds.

Healing

After the treatment, the flap is folded back into its original position as the body’s own plaster. It will grow back in no time.

The first milestone on your way to life without glasses is the detailed preliminary medical examination. During this we take a close look at your eyes and your individual ametropia and determine the most suitable treatment method for you.

Step 1. Initial information and aptitude test for LASIK

During a non-binding information session, you will learn how LASIK and other treatment methods make it possible to say goodbye to glasses and contact lenses. You have the choice between a free video consultation from the comfort of your own home or a personal appointment at one of our locations with one of our optometrists. On request, we can carry out an initial suitability test of your eyes for laser correction on site.

Step 2. Preliminary medical examination

The comprehensive preliminary medical examination is crucial for choosing the most suitable treatment method for you. We measure every millimeter of your eyes precisely and thus lay the foundation for optimal treatment results. 

At this appointment, you have the opportunity to ask your treating doctor questions.

Tip: You can save time by combining both steps

If you wish, you can combine both dates. After an initial aptitude test and a detailed consultation, we immediately carry out the preliminary medical examination. Many patients choose this option in order to save time for travel and appointments. Please plan about 2.5 hours for the entire examination.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Sterne Heute hatte ich meine Augenlaser-OP bei Care Vision Frankfurt und ich bin rundum begeistert. Vom ersten Moment an habe ich mich bestens aufgehoben gefühlt. Das gesamte Team arbeitet Hand in Hand, ist unglaublich freundlich, aufmerksam und hochkompetent. Man merkt sofort, dass hier Erfahrung und Professionalität aufeinander treffen. Ursprünglich war bei mir eine Femto-LASIK geplant. Während der Behandlung stellte sich jedoch heraus, dass mein Auge für dieses Verfahren nicht optimal geeignet ist. Das Ärzteteam reagierte sofort professionell und stellte auf eine klassische LASIK um. Mir wurde alles verständlich erklärt und ich hatte jederzeit volles Vertrauen. Das Ergebnis ist identisch, sodass diese Entscheidung absolut richtig war. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich Herrn Dr. Guillermo Duran. Ein äußerst kompetenter Arzt, der Ruhe ausstrahlt und einem während der gesamten Behandlung ein sicheres Gefühl vermittelt. Bereits nach etwa drei Stunden konnte ich nahezu perfekt sehen – und das ohne Brille. Dieses Gefühl ist einfach unglaublich. Was mich zusätzlich positiv überrascht hat: Da die letztendlich durchgeführte Behandlung günstiger war als ursprünglich geplant, wurde dies auch fair bei den Kosten berücksichtigt. Ich habe mir gestern bei Care Vision die Augen lasern lassen und möchte meine ehrliche Erfahrung teilen – vor allem auch für Menschen, die wie ich sehr viel Angst vor dem Eingriff haben. Die Mitarbeiter waren wirklich alle sehr freundlich, ruhig und verständnisvoll. Ein ganz besonderes Dankeschön geht an die OP-Schwester, die mir sogar angeboten hat, während der OP die Hand zu halten, weil ich wirklich starke Angst hatte. Das hat mir sehr geholfen und mir ein Gefühl von Sicherheit gegeben. Die OP selbst war zu keinem Zeitpunkt schmerzhaft – weder das Lasern noch der restliche Eingriff. Natürlich war manches etwas unangenehm oder ungewohnt, vor allem die Geräusche und die ganzen Eindrücke, aber nicht schmerzhaft. Die ersten Stunden danach hatte ich vor allem starke Kopfschmerzen und lichtempfindliche Augen. Das war anstrengend, aber auch das wurde schnell besser. Heute war ich bereits zur Nachsorge und sehe jetzt schon sehr gut. Ich fühle mich insgesamt rundum zufrieden und gut aufgehoben. Ich bin sehr froh, diesen Schritt gemacht zu haben.

Ich wurde heute von Herrn Rafiezadeh gelasert und bin rundum glücklich mit der OP und allem der Betreuung vor Ort. Ich war zwar nicht mit Care Vison im Vertrag, sondern mit seiner Privatpraxis, dennoch durfte ich heute alle benfits von care Vision genießen und habe mich daher entschieden eine Bewertung für Care Vision Frankfurt zu hinterlassen. Die Räumlichkeiten sind sehr schön und wirklich jeder dort war überaus freundlich. Mir wurde jegliche Aufregung genommen und ich habe mich stets sehr gut betreut gefühlt. Besonders Irina möchte ich hervorheben - sie hat mit ihrer liebevollen und humorvollen Art uns Patienten perfekt vorher und nachher versorgt. Danke dafür! Ich war im März zur Voruntersuchung in Erfurt und es war alles super! Die Mitarbeiter sind alle total freundlich und ich hab mich bestens aufgehoben gefühlt. Ende Mai war nun mein Termin zum Augenlasern in Leipzig. Auch hier waren alle super nett und bei der OP hat auch alles perfekt geklappt. Ich hatte zu keiner Zeit Schmerzen oder Ähnliches. Ich kann nur Positives über meine Behandlung berichten. Vom Empfang bis zu den Ärztinnen waren alle sehr freundlich und haben alles dafür getan, dass man sich in der Zeit dort wohl fühlt. Man kann alle möglichen Fragen stellen und es war immer jemand erreichbar. Während der OP wird viel mit einem Gesprochen, sodass man immer weiß, was gerade passiert und das alles gut ist. Mit dem Ergebnis bin ich auch 100% zufrieden!

Ich habe meine Augen am 22.05.2026 Lasern lassen. Der Weg zum Termin ist unglaublich einfach. Ein Erstgespräch wenn man möchte, eine Untersuchung zur Eignung und zum festlegen der Behandlung und dann der Tag des Eingriffs. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Einige Mitarbeiter haben mich sehr sehr gut beraten und haben einen sehr kompetenten Eindruck gemacht. Mein Behandelnder Arzt hat mir ein gutes Gefühl vermittelt und hat während des Eingriffs noch mit mir gescherzt, toller Arzt. Drei Jahre lang habe ich mich nicht zu der Operation getraut und unter Kopfschmerzen gelitten. Endlich habe ich mich entschieden, mich an die Klinik Care Vision zu wenden, und bin bei Julia Esser gelandet. Mir wurde alles ausführlich erklärt, es wurde eine Diagnostik durchgeführt und ein OP-Termin vereinbart. Der Preis für die Operation war sehr angenehm. 15 Minuten – und ich war schockiert darüber, wie klar und farbenfroh diese Welt eigentlich ist 😍 Alles verlief schnell und völlig schmerzfrei. Die Entscheidung noch endlich von meiner Brille zu verschieden fiel nicht schwer, spätestens seit die Kontaktlinsen nicht mehr so gut vertragen wurden und der Augenarzt von einem weiteren Tragen abgeraten hat. Mich letztendlich für eine Klinik zu entscheiden hat doch einen längeren Zeitraum in Anspruch genommen. Ich habe mehrere Videoberatungen gemacht und mich bei mehreren Anbietern informiert. Zum Schluss hat CareVision den Zuschlag hauptsächlich wegen der überraschend kostengünstigen Behandlung sowie der Zusammenarbeit mit meiner privaten Krankenversicherung bekommen. Bereits die Videoberatung war sehr freundlich, offen und informativ. Die Voruntersuchung verlief genau wie angekündigt, das Team vor Ort war super freundlich und die Atmosphäre in der Klinik angenehm. Die Begleitperson durfte ohne Murren bei allen Untersuchungen dabei sein, die Mitarbeiter haben auch aktiv die von ihm gestellten Fragen beantwortet. Da ich im Vorfeld sämtliche Informationen, die mich interessiert haben auf sämtlichen Internetseiten erhalten hatte, störte das eher kurze Aufklärungsgespräch mich nicht. Die wichtigsten Informationen wurden besprochen und auch auf meinen direkten Wunsch nach einer FemtoLasik wurde eingegangen. Die Unterlagen für meine Versicherung habe ich zeitnah per Post erhalten. Am OP Tag wurde ich wieder freundlich begrüßt, die Augen wurden noch einmal untersucht und dann ging's auch schon los. Das Personal hat mich zu jeder Zeit gut begleitet und mir meinen Respekt vor der OP genommen, ich brauchte sogar keine Beruhigungstablette. Die OP lief professionell ab, mein Operateur hat alles in Ruhe erklärt und mich durch die OP geführt. Auf meine Einwände wurde reagiert, ich bekam Stressbälle für die Hände und wurde nach erfolgreicher Behandlung in den Ruhebereich gebracht. Dort stand Wasser und ein paar Kekse als Nervennahrung zur Verfügung. Die OP an sich verlief abgesehen von dem Schmerz beim Druck des Saugrings sowie das unangenehme Gefühl durch den Lidspreizer schmerzfrei. Für den anschließenden Tag bekam ich für den Notfall nocheinmal etwas Betäubungstropfen mit. Der erste Tag nach der OP ist unangenehm, es brennt und tränt die ganze Zeit und ich war sehr dankbar für meine dunkle Brille. Alles wie von dem Team angekündigt und zuvor besprochen. Aber seit dem zweiten Tag genieße ich ein wunderbares Lebensgefühl ohne Brille. Aufzuwachen und scharf sehen zu können fühlt sich einfach jedes Mal wieder wie ein großes Geschenk an! Danke an das Team von CareVision für dieses neue Lebensgefühl! Endlich brillenfrei!

Die Beratung und die Behandlung bei Care Vision war bisher mehr als zufriedenstellend. Schon bei der augenärztlichen Untersuchung hat man sich viel Zeit für meine Fragen und Bedenken genommen. Die Mitarbeiter sind allesamt sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Behandlung/der Eingriff wurde von Frau Dr. Papadopoulou durchgeführt. Sie hat währenddessen jeden Schritt erklärt und konnte mir meine Angst vollständig nehmen. Der Eingriff an sich war schmerzfrei und innerhalb weniger Minuten durchgeführt. Ich kann CARE Vision nur mit 5 Sternen 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 bewerten. Von Anfang an topp Praxisteam, sehr gut organisiert, sehr freundliches und kompetentes Team. Mein Arzt Dr. Wagner hat mir wunderbar alles erklärt und auch die Angst ( Laser am Auge) genommen. Vor 14 Tagen erfolgreich operiert. Keine Beschwerden, hab bereits nach der OP - nach ca. 3- 4 Stunden, gut gesehen. Es lief alles so ab wie vorher erklärt wurde. Heute Nachuntesuchung, sehe sogar wieder in die Nähe ganz toll. The eye laser treatment takes place on Saturday and the first follow-up examination on Sunday. Frequently asked questions about LASIK (FAQ)

How long does vision change last after LASIK?

LASIK surgery is characterized by the particularly rapid restoration of vision after the treatment. Many patients are immediately impressed by their good vision without glasses immediately after the LASIK operation. Most patients are fully operational again the next day and can go about their normal everyday life without visual aids. Full vision recovery takes about two to three months. The exact duration varies from person to person and depends in particular on the severity of the visual defect being treated.

Which ametropia can LASIK surgery correct?

LASIK treatment can correct short-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism. In the case of myopia, treatment is usually possible up to -10 diopters; with farsightedness up to approx. 4 diopters. 

When should I have my eyes lasered?

You can have your eyes lasered if you wear glasses or contact lenses and find these visual aids annoying. You should also be at least 18 years old and have stable eyesight for more than 12 months. You must not suffer from any eye disease and should be in good health.

Can I laser both eyes at the same time?

Yes, both eyes are lasered during one treatment. Because after LASIK, our patients can usually see clearly again immediately or a few hours after the treatment. Your eyes may be slightly irritated and sensitive to light on the day of treatment; the day after LASIK you can usually go back to your usual activities and work. 

How long does LASIK surgery take?

The treatment only takes about 10 minutes per eye and the laser itself only takes a few seconds. Anesthetic eye drops are administered before the treatment. As soon as the anesthesia sets in, a small cover, the so-called flap, is prepared on the surface of the cornea and folded up. Then the actual laser treatment begins. The doctor uses the laser to model the surface of the cornea in such a way that the ametropia can be compensated for. The tiny corneal flap is returned to its original position and the treatment is complete. 

Is LASIK treatment painful? Do I get anesthesia?

The treatment is painless as you will be given numbing eye drops. A few patients only feel a slight pressure or foreign body sensation. Anesthesia is not necessary. Before the treatment, we offer you a sedative tablet. We recommend patients to take this, especially if they are nervous. 

How long will it take for my eyes to recover after LASIK?

After LASIK, our patients can usually see clearly again immediately or a few hours after the procedure. You should rest on the day of the treatment, as your eyes can be easily irritated and sensitive to light. You can usually go back to your usual activities and work the day after the treatment. You should avoid strenuous sport, swimming and eye make-up for a week so that your eyes can regenerate as best as possible.

How long do you have dry eyes after LASIK surgery?

Nach der Behandlung können vorübAfter the treatment, you may experience a temporary sensation of dryness or a foreign body sensation (similar to a grain of sand in the eye), as well as burning or itching. We will give you artificial tears and a drop schedule that you should follow to prevent the symptoms. The feeling of dryness should disappear after a few weeks at the latest.

How much does LASIK surgery cost?
