What does LASIK mean?

LASIK is the most commonly used eye laser method worldwide. The abbreviation stands for laser in situ keratomileusis. With extensive long-term experience and excellent treatment results, LASIK is the most popular correction procedure for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

A LASIK treatment only takes about 10 minutes per eye (the use of the laser only takes a few seconds) and is carried out on an outpatient basis at one of the CARE Vision locations. Shortly after the LASIK treatment, most of our patients can see well and can go about their usual everyday life again after a day or two – of course without glasses and contact lenses.

The treatment – This is how the LASIK surgery works

Anesthesia

First, the eyes are prepared for the LASIK operation with numbing drops. Most patients only feel a slight pressure during the treatment.

Preparation

The ophthalmologist prepares a small lamella in the top layer of the cornea. This so-called flap is folded to the side and the actual laser treatment can begin.

Laser treatment

Now the Excimer laser starts the customized correction of the ametropia by modeling the cornea. This happens in a few seconds.

Healing

After the treatment, the flap is folded back into its original position as the body’s own plaster. It will grow back in no time.

The first milestone on your way to life without glasses is the detailed preliminary medical examination. During this we take a close look at your eyes and your individual ametropia and determine the most suitable treatment method for you.

Step 1. Initial information and aptitude test for LASIK

During a non-binding information session, you will learn how LASIK and other treatment methods make it possible to say goodbye to glasses and contact lenses. You have the choice between a free video consultation from the comfort of your own home or a personal appointment at one of our locations with one of our optometrists. On request, we can carry out an initial suitability test of your eyes for laser correction on site.

Step 2. Preliminary medical examination

The comprehensive preliminary medical examination is crucial for choosing the most suitable treatment method for you. We measure every millimeter of your eyes precisely and thus lay the foundation for optimal treatment results. 

At this appointment, you have the opportunity to ask your treating doctor questions.

Tip: You can save time by combining both steps

If you wish, you can combine both dates. After an initial aptitude test and a detailed consultation, we immediately carry out the preliminary medical examination. Many patients choose this option in order to save time for travel and appointments. Please plan about 2.5 hours for the entire examination.

Ich habe mir am 18.02.2021 mit der LASIK-Methode meine Augen korrigieren lassen und bin schwer beeindruckt, dass ich einen Tag später schon super sehen kann. Die LASIK-Methode verlief sehr schnell und schmerzfrei. Auf CARE Vision bin ich durch meine Gewerkschaft aufmerksam geworden und grundsätzlich lässt sich sagen, dass das gesamte Team super und sehr sympatisch ist. Es wird sich um den Patienten gekümmert, jegliche Fragen werden beantwortet, usw. Der Preis ist meiner Meinung nach sehr günstig. Ich habe 2200€ bezahlen müssen. Auf Nachfrage bei anderen Laseraugenkorrekturzentren wurde fast das Doppelte verlangt. Letztendlich bin ich sehr froh, dass ich meine Augen habe bei CARE Vison korriegieren lassen und kann es JEDEM nur weiterempfehlen!

Fazit : Geduld braucht man, es kommt wirklich Alles so wie die Ärzte vorhersagen. Bei mir zuerst Linsentausch, drei Monate später „Nachstar“ Lasern und 6 Monate danach Hornhautverkrümmung links mit Femto Nachlassen. Alle Aufregung und Angst waren umsonst. Bin am 12.01.2026 operiert worden, MIOL mit den Rayner Galaxy Linsen, Untersuchungen in Regensburg, OP in Nürnberg. Überall sehr freundlich und aufrichtig, kann mich dem Lob der Vorgänger:innen voll anschließen. Wenn du wissen möchtest wie es mir am OP Tag gegangen ist, dann lies weiter bis zum Ende Op Verlauf : T+0 : Operation : Überpünktlich war ich in der Praxis in Nürnberg. Man hat mich dort äußerst freundlich empfangen, die Papiere überprüft, und wenige Minuten später ging es schon los mit dem Tropfen der Augen. Dreimal hintereinander bekommt man jeweils zwei Tropfen, ein Mittel brennt ein bisschen, aber das ist ganz leicht zu verkraften. Die Schwester bereitet mich auf das brennen auch vor. Begrüßt werde ich auch von einer Schwester, die mir sagt, sie werde mich während der gesamten Operation begleiten. Pünktlich auf die Minute werde ich von ihr abgeholt und an der Schleuse zum Operationssaal empfängt mich mein Chirurg und begrüßt mich freundlich. Wir gehen dann ein paar Meter zu einem Schreibtisch, dort wartet der Anästhesist auf mich, legt eine Kanüle für Notfälle und schon werde ich umgezogen für den Operationssaal. Über Schuhe aus Plastik, ein Operationshaube und eine Schürze. Im Operations Saal werde ich schnell auf den Tisch platziert, und wenige Sekunden später geht’s auch schon los. Das wirklich einzig Unangenehme an der ganzen Operation war das helle Licht während der ersten 60 Sekunden der Operation, in das man schauen muss. An das gewöhnt sich das Auge dann aber auch und danach habe ich absolut nichts mehr gespürt. Man sieht ab und zu Schatten von Bewegungen, mehr auch schon nicht. Der Chirurg erklärt seine Schritte auf einem Niveau, das zum Zeitpunkt der Operation verständlich ist. Zeitgefühl hab ich überhaupt Keins. Ob es 5 Minuten oder 30 Minuten gedauert hat, ich weiß es nicht. Zwischen den beiden Augen ist eine kleine Pause, der Chirurg sterilisiert sich neu sagt er, und plötzlich bin ich fertig, und schon fertig zum Fotoshooting mit meinem Chirurgen. Auf dem Nachhauseweg zum Hotel (ich bin dem Tipp des Chirurgen gefolgt und habe mir in Nürnberg ein Zimmer über die Nacht gemietet mit meiner Frau, ich kann das wirklich nur absolut empfehlen), war ich froh, die Sonnenbrille dabei zu haben, obwohl bereits die Sonne untergegangen war und wir bedeckten Himmel hatten, war jedes Licht von Autos oder Lampen störend und blendend. Ich konnte schon wieder einigermaßen sehen, aber nach dem Essen sind wir unmittelbar ins Hotelzimmer gegangen und ich bin in einen Tiefschlaf gefallen. Eineinhalb Stunden später wieder aufgewacht. einen kurzen Spaziergang in der Innenstadt von Nürnberg zurück ins Zimmer und die Nacht problemlos durchgeschlafen. Das Tropfen die Augen mit den drei verschiedenen Mittelchen ist problemlos, ich habe tief geschlafen, keinerlei Probleme Fazit : es lief Alles exact wie vorhergesagt ab.

Heute meine Augen dort lasern lassen, und kann die Klinik mehr als empfehlen. Beim Vorgespräch und allgemein sind die Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich, was einem ein gutes Gefühl vermittelt. Die OP selbst dauert nicht so lange und ist absolut schmerzlos. Schon wenige Stunden später bin ich echt von der Verbesserung überrascht, auch wenn die komplette Heilung natürlich noch im Gange ist. Einziger Kritikpunkt, sowohl am OP-Tag als auch beim Vorgespräch hat man insgesamt gut Wartezeit (Gespräch so 1.5h, OP-Tag 2h ungefähr). Aber trotzdem definitiv empfehlenswert. Würde ich jedem empfehlen der die Brille nicht mehr ausstehen kann.

Goodbye Brille mit der Aussage habe ich ein Untersuchungstermin bei Care Vision in Wiesbaden gemacht. Eine kleine sehr gut zu erreichende Praxis am beginn der Kirchgasse. Als Resultat der Untersuchung gab es von Fr. Dr. Papadopoulou die Erklärung & Empfehlung zum Tausch der Augenlinsen im OP Zentrum Frankfurt. - 3 aufeinanderfolgende Besuchstage in Frankfurt - Wenn man es wie ich vom Frankfurter Hbf mit seinen Baustellen bis zu Care Vision geschafft hat und mit dem Fahrstuhl ganz nach oben gefahren ist, erwartet einen eine großzügig eingerichtete und klimatisierte Praxis. Der Wartebereich ist angenehm zweckmäßig ausgestattet. Für den kleinen Hunger werden Mineralwasser und Kekse bereitgestellt. Das Praxispersonal strahlt eine angenehme Ruhe aus. Nach einem Augencheck beginnt die OP Vorbereitung indem das Auge schrittweise mittels Tropfen beteubt wird. Direkt vor der OP gibt es noch ein Gespräch mit der Nakose-Ärztin und die obligatorische Einkleidung für die OP. In meinem Fall erwartete mich im OP-Saal meine Operteurin, die mir den Ablauf nochmal erleuterte, dann geht das Licht aus und wieder an und die OP ist abgeschlossen. Im Aufenhaltsbereich wurde ich sofort mit Mineralwasser und Snacks (Kekse) versorgt. Mit der Überprüfung der Linse auf die korrekte Positionierung im Auge ist die Behandlung vom ersten Auge abgeschlossen. Am darauffolgen Tag wurde mein zweites Auge operiert, mit den gleichen Eindrücken wie am Vortag nur kannte ich nun schon das Procedure. Während eines dritten Besuch bei Care Vision gab es für mich ein wiedersehen mit Fr. Dr. Papadopoulou die nach den Sehtests, die Nachuntersuchung bei mir durchgeführt hat. Das Versprechen "Goodbye Brille" wurde eingehalten. Ich benötige für meinen Alltag keine Sehhilfe mehr.

Hab nach langen Überlegungen den Schritt hin zur Augen OP gewagt. Was soll ich sagen: alle Überlegungen und Ängste waren völlig unbegründet. Von der erst Untersuch bis zur Nachkontrolle lief alles perfekt. Ich hab einen Tag nach der OP bereits 125% Sehvermögen was für mich mit -7dioptrin als Ausgangspunkt unvorstellbar war. Der Gewinn an Lebensqualität ist einfach Wahnsinn. Ich würde es jederzeit wieder machen und auch jedem nahe legen dies zu tun wer darüber nachdenkt. Im Nachhinein verstehe ich jeden der sagt, er bereut es, es nicht früher gemacht zu haben. Dem kann ich mich einfach nur anschließen. Ich war Patientin bei Frau Doktor Papadopolus. Sie vermittelte mir Sicherheit und arbeitet sehr kompetent. Alles hat sie genau erklärt, es war schon fast familiär. Schade das ich nur zwei Augen habe. Ich würde es immer wieder tun und kann es sehr empfehlen. Nie mehr Brille, dank neuer Linsen und dank Frau Doktor. Ich kann über care vision und über die betreuung von den Arzthelfern bis hin zu den ärzten insbesonders der Arzt (Carlos Salazar) der mich behandet hat nur positives berichten. Frequently asked questions about LASIK (FAQ)

How long does vision change last after LASIK?

LASIK surgery is characterized by the particularly rapid restoration of vision after the treatment. Many patients are immediately impressed by their good vision without glasses immediately after the LASIK operation. Most patients are fully operational again the next day and can go about their normal everyday life without visual aids. Full vision recovery takes about two to three months. The exact duration varies from person to person and depends in particular on the severity of the visual defect being treated.

Which ametropia can LASIK surgery correct?

LASIK treatment can correct short-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism. In the case of myopia, treatment is usually possible up to -10 diopters; with farsightedness up to approx. 4 diopters. 

When should I have my eyes lasered?

You can have your eyes lasered if you wear glasses or contact lenses and find these visual aids annoying. You should also be at least 18 years old and have stable eyesight for more than 12 months. You must not suffer from any eye disease and should be in good health.

Can I laser both eyes at the same time?

Yes, both eyes are lasered during one treatment. Because after LASIK, our patients can usually see clearly again immediately or a few hours after the treatment. Your eyes may be slightly irritated and sensitive to light on the day of treatment; the day after LASIK you can usually go back to your usual activities and work. 

How long does LASIK surgery take?

The treatment only takes about 10 minutes per eye and the laser itself only takes a few seconds. Anesthetic eye drops are administered before the treatment. As soon as the anesthesia sets in, a small cover, the so-called flap, is prepared on the surface of the cornea and folded up. Then the actual laser treatment begins. The doctor uses the laser to model the surface of the cornea in such a way that the ametropia can be compensated for. The tiny corneal flap is returned to its original position and the treatment is complete. 

Is LASIK treatment painful? Do I get anesthesia?

The treatment is painless as you will be given numbing eye drops. A few patients only feel a slight pressure or foreign body sensation. Anesthesia is not necessary. Before the treatment, we offer you a sedative tablet. We recommend patients to take this, especially if they are nervous. 

How long will it take for my eyes to recover after LASIK?

After LASIK, our patients can usually see clearly again immediately or a few hours after the procedure. You should rest on the day of the treatment, as your eyes can be easily irritated and sensitive to light. You can usually go back to your usual activities and work the day after the treatment. You should avoid strenuous sport, swimming and eye make-up for a week so that your eyes can regenerate as best as possible.

How long do you have dry eyes after LASIK surgery?

Nach der Behandlung können vorübAfter the treatment, you may experience a temporary sensation of dryness or a foreign body sensation (similar to a grain of sand in the eye), as well as burning or itching. We will give you artificial tears and a drop schedule that you should follow to prevent the symptoms. The feeling of dryness should disappear after a few weeks at the latest.

How much does LASIK surgery cost?

The cost of LASIK is around €1.200 per eye (billing according to GOÄ after the treatment has been completed). You also have the option of financing the treatment with up to 12 monthly installments (0% financing).
