What does LASIK mean?

LASIK is the most commonly used eye laser method worldwide. The abbreviation stands for laser in situ keratomileusis. With extensive long-term experience and excellent treatment results, LASIK is the most popular correction procedure for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

A LASIK treatment only takes about 10 minutes per eye (the use of the laser only takes a few seconds) and is carried out on an outpatient basis at one of the CARE Vision locations. Shortly after the LASIK treatment, most of our patients can see well and can go about their usual everyday life again after a day or two – of course without glasses and contact lenses.

The treatment – This is how the LASIK surgery works

Anesthesia

First, the eyes are prepared for the LASIK operation with numbing drops. Most patients only feel a slight pressure during the treatment.

Preparation

The ophthalmologist prepares a small lamella in the top layer of the cornea. This so-called flap is folded to the side and the actual laser treatment can begin.

Laser treatment

Now the Excimer laser starts the customized correction of the ametropia by modeling the cornea. This happens in a few seconds.

Healing

After the treatment, the flap is folded back into its original position as the body’s own plaster. It will grow back in no time.

The first milestone on your way to life without glasses is the detailed preliminary medical examination. During this we take a close look at your eyes and your individual ametropia and determine the most suitable treatment method for you.

Step 1. Initial information and aptitude test for LASIK

During a non-binding information session, you will learn how LASIK and other treatment methods make it possible to say goodbye to glasses and contact lenses. You have the choice between a free video consultation from the comfort of your own home or a personal appointment at one of our locations with one of our optometrists. On request, we can carry out an initial suitability test of your eyes for laser correction on site.

Step 2. Preliminary medical examination

The comprehensive preliminary medical examination is crucial for choosing the most suitable treatment method for you. We measure every millimeter of your eyes precisely and thus lay the foundation for optimal treatment results. 

At this appointment, you have the opportunity to ask your treating doctor questions.

Tip: You can save time by combining both steps

If you wish, you can combine both dates. After an initial aptitude test and a detailed consultation, we immediately carry out the preliminary medical examination. Many patients choose this option in order to save time for travel and appointments. Please plan about 2.5 hours for the entire examination.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ich bin 19 und habe vor einer Weile eine Lasikbehandlung bei Care Vision in Nürnberg durchführen lassen. Um direkt mal mit der Kritik anzufangen und zu erklären warum ich keine fünf Sterne vergebe Man hat in der Klinik schon sehr stark das Gefühl dass man wie am Fließband behandelt wird. Man kommt an und wird ziemlich schnell durch die Stationen geschleust. Wer hier auf eine stundenlange individuelle Betreuung hofft wird eher enttäuscht sein. Aber ganz ehrlich, bei dem Preis ist diese schnelle Taktung vollkommen normal und auch irgendwo logisch. Für mich persönlich war das absolut okay, man sollte sich nur vorher einfach darauf einstellen. Am Tag der Operation selbst war ich dann wirklich unnormal aufgeregt. Ich hatte richtig weiche Knie und habe gefühlt alles vergessen was mir vorher erklärt wurde. Die Kommunikation war in dem Moment ein bisschen schwierig und holprig, was aber eher mein eigener Fehler war weil ich mich da so reingesteigert habe. Der Arzt war glücklicherweise komplett tiefenentspannt und hat absolute Ruhe bewahrt. Das fand ich in dieser situation unglaublich angenehm. Seine entspannte Art hat mich total runtergeholt und mir extrem geholfen meine Panik wieder in den Griff zu bekommen. Abgesehen von der schnellen Abfertigung am Anfang war der restliche Ablauf nämlich wirklich erstklassig. Die Operation war in wenigen Minuten erledigt und man merkt kaum etwas davon. Besonders positiv hervorheben möchte ich auch alles was danach kam. Die nachträglichen Untersuchungen waren super organisiert und das Personal war total hilfsbereit. Was für mich außerdem extrem wichtig war: Die Ausstellung der ärztlichen Befunde lief komplett ohne Probleme und sehr zügig ab. Ich brauchte die Unterlagen dringend für meine weitere berufliche Laufbahn und da hat Care Vision wirklich sofort und extrem zuverlässig geliefert. Jetzt im Nachhinein bin ich einfach nur extrem froh dass ich den Schritt gemacht habe. Es ist ein unglaubliches Gefühl wenn man auf einmal wieder alles gestochen scharf erkennen kann. Das Ergebnis spricht absolut für sich. Ich kann Care Vision in Nürnberg definitiv weiterempfehlen wenn man ein starkes Ergebnis zu einem fairen Preis sucht und mit der schnellen Abwicklung gut leben kann.

Ich wurde vor einer Woche Operiert und ich bin sehr zufrieden. Sehr nette Mittarbeiter, sehr zuvorkommend. Mich hat Dr. Engelskirchen Operiert und er war sehr nett. 😊 ich hatte große Angst davor, aber er hat mir jeden schritt den er gemacht hat erklärt. Das hat mich beruhigt. Man fühlte sich von der ersten Voruntersuchung über die Operation bis hin zu allen Nachuntersuchungen fachlich top und wahnsinnig sympathisch und freundlich betreut! Nach der Operation, konnte ich bereits nach 3-4h wieder alles sehen und die Lichtempfindlichkeit, sowie das Fremdkörpergefühl im Auge waren weg. Das hätte ich nie gedacht, dass es so schnell gehen würde. Ich rate es dennoch, sich ein Hotelzimmer danach zu nehmen und einfach zu schlafen, dann merkt man so gut wie nichts von den beiden kurzzeitigen Einschränkungen. Ich kann es jedem nur empfehlen, wenn man mit dem Gedanken spielt, sich hier die Augen lasern zu lassen! Herzlichen Dank für alles!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolute Empfehlung! Gestern hatte ich meinen Linsentausch bei CARE Vision Nürnberg – und ich bin einfach nur begeistert! Schon die erste Online-Beratung mit Schwester Susi hat mich überzeugt. Ich habe gestern meine Augen bei Vision Care mit einer Mono-LASIK behandeln lassen und bin rundum begeistert. Bereits das Vorgespräch war sehr ausführlich und verständlich. Ich habe meine Augen mit der LASIK Methode bei CARE Vision lasern lassen. Zunächst hatte ich eine Beratung per Video in Anspruch genommen. Hier zeigte sich bereits, dass Service und Freundlichkeit bei CARE Vision groß geschrieben wird. Die Beraterin hat sich unheimlich viel Zeit genommen und alle Methoden genau erläutert. Alle meine Fragen und Bedenken wurden ernst beantwortet und ernst genommen. Dieser Service-Gedanke zog sich dann auch im persönlichen Gespräch Vorort fort. Alle Mitarbeiter und der Arzt waren unheimlich freundlich, zuvorkommend und geduldig. Lediglich die Klimaanlage im Warteraum hat gefehlt 😀. Aber es gab genug Getränke. Am OP Tag kann man eine Beruhigungstablette bekommen, würde ich jeden empfehlen. Die OP selbst ist etwas unangenehm, aber geht zum Glück sehr schnell vorbei. Währenddessen wird man sehr gut beruhigt und abgelenkt. Ich bin sehr froh, diesen Schritt gegangen zu sein, bevor meine Altersweitsichtigkeit eingetreten ist. Und freue mich nun, mir einfach ohne Umwege neue Sonnenbrillen gönnen zu können und alle Unannehmlichkeiten, die man mit Brille hat, für immer ablegen zu dürfen!

Es ist so toll, dass es heutzutage diese Möglichkeiten gibt - ich konnte einen Tag nach meiner Augen-OP (LASIK-Methode) schon so extrem gut sehen. Ich war/bin sehr zufrieden mit der Behandlung bei CARE-Vision, ich hätte mir nur eine etwas bessere Kommunikation gewünscht und was hilfreich wäre, wären eine Art FAQ‘s für die Zeit nach der OP. Ich war teilweise unsicher, weil von Mitarbeitern unterschiedliche Aussagen getroffen wurden.

Ich bin mehr als begeistert von meiner Erfahrung bei Care Vision! Von der ersten Beratung bis zu den beiden Operationen habe ich mich jederzeit bestens aufgehoben gefühlt. Mein Beratungsgespräch von ca 2,5 Stunden war informativ , klar strukturiert und einfach aufklärend , dass ich nicht Lasern konnte sondern mich dann für die bd seitige Multifokallinsen Operation entschieden habe , verdanke ich dem absolut informativ erklärenden Gespräch mit dem operierenden Arzt Yermalitski Anton . Am 6. und 7.7.2026 bekam ich Trifocal-Linsen. Der behandelnde Arzt war Dr. Bdoura. Bereits am 8.7. hatte ich eine Sehkraft von 110 und 120%. Null Schmerzen! Besser geht es nicht! For patients who are busy during the week, we regularly offer our popular LASIK weekends. The comprehensive medical preliminary examination of your eyes takes place on Fridays. The eye laser treatment takes place on Saturday and the first follow-up examination on Sunday. Frequently asked questions about LASIK (FAQ)

How long does vision change last after LASIK?

LASIK surgery is characterized by the particularly rapid restoration of vision after the treatment. Many patients are immediately impressed by their good vision without glasses immediately after the LASIK operation. Most patients are fully operational again the next day and can go about their normal everyday life without visual aids. Full vision recovery takes about two to three months. The exact duration varies from person to person and depends in particular on the severity of the visual defect being treated.

Which ametropia can LASIK surgery correct?

LASIK treatment can correct short-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism. In the case of myopia, treatment is usually possible up to -10 diopters; with farsightedness up to approx. 4 diopters. 

When should I have my eyes lasered?

You can have your eyes lasered if you wear glasses or contact lenses and find these visual aids annoying. You should also be at least 18 years old and have stable eyesight for more than 12 months. You must not suffer from any eye disease and should be in good health.

Can I laser both eyes at the same time?

Yes, both eyes are lasered during one treatment. Because after LASIK, our patients can usually see clearly again immediately or a few hours after the treatment. Your eyes may be slightly irritated and sensitive to light on the day of treatment; the day after LASIK you can usually go back to your usual activities and work. 

How long does LASIK surgery take?

The treatment only takes about 10 minutes per eye and the laser itself only takes a few seconds. Anesthetic eye drops are administered before the treatment. As soon as the anesthesia sets in, a small cover, the so-called flap, is prepared on the surface of the cornea and folded up. Then the actual laser treatment begins. The doctor uses the laser to model the surface of the cornea in such a way that the ametropia can be compensated for. The tiny corneal flap is returned to its original position and the treatment is complete. 

Is LASIK treatment painful? Do I get anesthesia?

The treatment is painless as you will be given numbing eye drops. A few patients only feel a slight pressure or foreign body sensation. Anesthesia is not necessary. Before the treatment, we offer you a sedative tablet. We recommend patients to take this, especially if they are nervous. 

How long will it take for my eyes to recover after LASIK?

After LASIK, our patients can usually see clearly again immediately or a few hours after the procedure. You should rest on the day of the treatment, as your eyes can be easily irritated and sensitive to light. You can usually go back to your usual activities and work the day after the treatment. You should avoid strenuous sport, swimming and eye make-up for a week so that your eyes can regenerate as best as possible.

How long do you have dry eyes after LASIK surgery?

Nach der Behandlung können vorübAfter the treatment, you may experience a temporary sensation of dryness or a foreign body sensation (similar to a grain of sand in the eye), as well as burning or itching. We will give you artificial tears and a drop schedule that you should follow to prevent the symptoms. The feeling of dryness should disappear after a few weeks at the latest.

How much does LASIK surgery cost?

The cost of LASIK is around €1.200 per eye (billing according to GOÄ after the treatment has been completed). You also have the option of financing the treatment with up to 12 monthly installments (0% financing).
