For many years, I have worked as an optician and deal with good vision every day. My glasses and contact lenses have been part of my life for half of my life. Especially when running, cycling or spending time in the mountains, my contact lenses always bothered me. That is why I had been thinking about laser eye surgery for quite some time. I became aware of CARE Vision through my sister’s recommendation.

After my consultation, I knew I wanted to go ahead

My eye examination in Vienna was the first step towards freedom from glasses. I already had a really good feeling when I arrived. I was warmly welcomed and felt comfortable from the very first moment. The consultation was exactly how I had imagined it: relaxed, professional and with plenty of time for my questions. As an optician, I am familiar with many of the measurements that are carried out during an eye examination from my everyday work. That is why I was immediately impressed by how carefully everything was done. The examinations were incredibly thorough and every step was explained to me. This immediately gave me a feeling of security. What I found particularly interesting was how individually they looked at my eyes. I also felt incredibly comfortable on a personal level. The entire team was so warm and took so much time to answer my questions. After the examination, I knew that I wanted to take this step.

It happened so quickly and then it was already over

I had been looking forward to the treatment day for a long time. Of course, I was a little nervous, simply because you do not make decisions like this every day. At the same time, I was much more excited than nervous. I kept thinking about how great it would be to go running, cycling or stand on a mountain summit without contact lenses. When I arrived, I was welcomed incredibly warmly again. The team took so much time to answer my last questions. This feeling confirmed to me that CARE Vision was the right decision for me. When I was lying on the treatment bed, I was nervous for a brief moment. The team explained every single step to me and then the treatment was already over. I still remember the doctor asking me directly after the treatment whether I could already see anything. That moment was very special to me. It happened so quickly and then it was already over. I couldn’t believe it. When I left the treatment room, I could hardly wait to see how my vision would develop over the next few hours. Immediately after the treatment, my eyes were slightly burning and I was still a little sensitive to light. But that was not a problem at all. I could already see really well. That was so cool.

Waking up and simply being able to see was my first wow moment

I notice the difference especially when I exercise. I used to always have my contact lenses with me. Especially on longer days, I always had to think about them. Now I put on my sports clothes, put on my sunglasses and off I go. This small change actually means a lot of freedom to me. After just one week, I noticed in everyday life how natural it had already become to get up in the morning and no longer think about glasses or contact lenses. It felt very special. That was also my first wow moment: opening my eyes in the morning and simply being able to see without glasses or contact lenses. Such a small thing that feels like so much freedom to me.

Today, I can simply enjoy the view

High up in the mountains, far away from everyday life and surrounded by nature – these are exactly the moments I love. In the past, contact lenses were simply part of every mountain tour. Today, I can enjoy the view without having to think about them. That is exactly why the treatment was the right decision for me. Not only because I can see clearly today, but because I have gained a little more freedom. Every time I stand on top of a mountain, I am simply grateful that I took this step.
