I had been wearing contact lenses almost continuously since I was 14 years old. I used to have a pair of glasses as a backup, but I rarely wore them, and eventually my prescription no longer matched anyway. Over time, my eyes became increasingly sensitive. Monthly contact lenses often felt uncomfortable, and my eyes would become dry and irritated, especially when driving or spending long days out and about.

I Simply Wanted More Independence

Especially while traveling or playing sports, dealing with contact lenses eventually became exhausting. I lost lenses, forgot to bring spare pairs, or found myself unable to buy replacements while abroad. On one occasion, I didn’t have any contact lens solution with me and had to store my lenses in water, which caused an eye infection. That was the moment I realized I didn’t want to continue living like that long-term. As an actress, I also wanted greater flexibility. If a role requires glasses, it is easy to wear frames with plain lenses. The opposite situation is much more difficult. One of my fellow actresses had already undergone laser eye surgery and spoke very positively about her experience. That encouraged me to look into the procedure myself.

Faster and Easier Than I Expected

At first, I was worried that something might go wrong. Family and friends often immediately think about risks, complications, or the possibility of seeing worse afterward. The most uncomfortable part of the procedure was the brief pressure caused by the suction ring. Other than that, everything was much quicker and easier than I had expected. Being outside and suddenly seeing everything in sharp detail was simply incredible.

A Huge Relief

Today, I notice the difference most when I am out in nature. While hiking, I can see much farther and appreciate my surroundings much more intensely. But everyday life has become easier as well. Reading street signs, being spontaneous, or driving a car or scooter without constantly thinking about contact lenses is a tremendous relief. One of my favorite moments was actually going to the cinema for the first time after the procedure. Everything was suddenly so clear and effortless. It made me realize how much my poor eyesight and contact lenses had affected my daily life.

I Gained a New Sense of Freedom

I would choose laser eye surgery again without hesitation. For me, it has been an enormous relief and has given me back a significant sense of freedom in everyday life. That is why I always tell anyone considering the procedure: learn more about it. It can truly make life so much easier.
